There is some truly superb fishing to be had in New Zealand. The well known American writer Zane Grey coined the phrase 'The Anglers Eldorado" when he wrote of his fishing exploits in New Zealand. There is some excellent sea fishing, both deep sea and reef fishing around the coastline, which, consequently, is longer than that of continental United States. Big game species include, billfish, southern bluefin and yellowfin tuna, 3 types of marlin, and shark. Some of the more popular inshore fish include snapper, blue and red cod, gurnad, tumpeter, kahawai, trevally, john dory and groper. These are all wonderful table fish and there are few things more satisfying than catching your own dinner.

New Zealand is renowned for it's impressive landscapes. Mountains rising virtually straight up out of the sea are a feature of a large proportion of the coastline, particularly in the South Island. Some of the fishing destinations on offer are breathtaking.
