Action Adventures has been operating for three years. The company is based in Christchurch and is owned and operated by Phil Robson. Phil was born and raised in Taranaki, but has been living in Christchurch for 15 years. He might be described as a bit of an outdoors nut who makes the most of living in the outdoor paradise that is New Zealand.

Over the summer he escapes to the high country to fish for trout hoping to experience one of those blissfully still, hot North Canterbury days when the trout rise in a feeding frenzy. Come the cooling of Autumn and the mighty stags beckon then there's no holding him back from the lure of the bush. Spring heralds new life and the start of the whitebait season. Between test matches you can usually find him on the banks of the Waimak with his nets and the newspaper. In-between all this he just as likely to be out on the water hauling in blue cod or over the side or getting a feed of crays or scallops. Then there's the paua of course. He has a couple of secret spots that keeps his friends coming round for paua patties. When he's not hunting and gathering he might be rafting a large South Island river somewhere or walking the hills taking photos. He's a rugby lad, having played for Canterbury and the New Zealand Colts. He coaches now and has a few championships under his belt.

It's hard to find the ultimate destination, he would argue, but if there was one place where he was able to pursue the greatest number of his interests, then Fiordland would be hard to beat. Action Adventures arose out of his love of Fiordland. After being involved in many trips to Fiordland and experiencing first hand the difficulties of trying to make up parties so that an expedition there was affordable for the average adventurer, he decided to try and do something about it. Phil has an extensive network or contacts and generally it's not too difficult to find enough enthusiasts to make up the numbers for a trip.
